ТЕОРЕТИЧНІ ПІДХОДИ ДО ТЛУМАЧЕННЯ ПОНЯТТЯ «СОЦІАЛЬНА НЕРІВНІСТЬ»

Анотація

У статті досліджено аспекти соціальної нерівності, включаючи рівень життя та нерівність доходів. На основі теоретичного узагальнення систематизовано наукові підходи до тлумачення природи основних понять і термінів, пов'язаних із соціальною нерівністю.
Досліджено вчення філософів античної доби на предмет класової диференціації суспільства. Розглянуто інституційні чинники соціальної стратифікації суспільства у Середньовіччі, акцентовано увагу на зміну усталених поглядів на проблему соціальної нерівності в епоху Нового Часу під впливом ідей Просвітництва. Проаналізовано конфліктний та функціональний підходи до розуміння сутності поняття «соціальна нерівність».
Досліджено етимологію таких суміжних понять, як «економічна нерівність», «соціальна стратифікація», «диференціація доходів», «поляризація суспільства», що поглиблює розуміння природи досліджуваного поняття.
Запропоновано під соціальною нерівністю розуміти стан соціальної стратифікації суспільства та поляризації рівня життя населення, спричиненої надмірною нерівністю доходів у суспільстві, викликаною «викривленим» перерозподілом доходів та невідповідною соціальною політикою.

THE THEORETICAL APPROACHES TO THE INTERPRETATION OF THE CONCEPT OF "SOCIAL INEQUALITY"

Summary

The article explores aspects of social inequality, including living standards and income inequality. Based on theoretical generalization, scientific approaches to interpreting the nature of basic concepts and terms related to social inequality are systematized. The doctrine of philosophers of ancient times about class differentiation of society is investigated. Institutional factors of social stratification of society in the Middle Ages were considered when representatives of different strata considered themselves and others unequal in both social and anthropological aspects.
Attention is paid to changing the established views on the problem of social inequality in the modern age, which is caused by the propagation of the ideas of the Enlightenment. The conflicting approach is analyzed, according to which social inequality is considered as an objective phenomenon and one of the main factors of social conflict. It is emphasized that for functional scientists, social inequality in a market economy forms an environment in which workers that are more skilled earn higher incomes.
It is argued that social inequality can be regarded as a positive phenomenon if it is formed as a natural inequality (inequality of human qualities and talents), while in other cases – an unfair differentiation of income.
The etymology of such related concepts as "economic inequality", "social stratification", "income differentiation", "polarization of society", which deepens the understanding of the nature of the concept of "social inequality" is investigated.
It is substantiated that the economic nature of the concept of "social inequality" is not limited to economic inequality (i.e. income differentiation and property stratification) but covers inequality of life chances and human potential (access to education and medicine).
It is suggested to understand under social inequality the state of social stratification of society and polarization of the standard of living of the population caused by excessive inequality of incomes in the society caused by "distorted" redistribution of incomes and inappropriate social policy.
